The Super Eagles of Nigeria have been tipped as one of the favorite for the on going Africa Cup of Nations .
Director of Sports , Kwara state , Mallam Bako Ibrahim stated this after watching the impressive performance of the team in last night 3-1 win over Uganda.
Bako urged the team not to lay down their gourd as they seek a fourth AFCON title .
“The team have done well so far and I see them going all the way to lift the trophy.I understand the team spirit is high in camp and very cohesive which is expected from a flagship national team.We need to support the more to ensure they bring home trophy.
He charged the team not to be complacent and to avoid a repeat of the 2021 edition where they lost to Tunisia in the round of 16 after topping their group with 9 points .
The Kwara Sport boss said the Sports Commission remain committed to improving sports in the state starting with grassroots programme where talents will be discovered and nurture.
He assured sports lovers in the state that renovation works at the offa and lafiagi stadium will be completed in 2026 .
“We are currently on the lafiagi and offa township stadium because with facilities,our youths will have the enabling environment to showcase their talents .
Again we are planning to bid for the hosting rights of the Ntional Sports Festival.
