
The Oyo State Government has directed the early closure of all public offices across the state to enable civil servants and public office holders to fully participate in activities marking the state’s 50th anniversary.
This is contained in a circular issued on Monday and signed by the Secretary to the State Government, Prof. Musbau Adekunji Babatunde.
The circular states that all Ministries, Departments and Agencies (MDAs) are to close for official duties by 12:00 noon on Tuesday, February 3, 2026.


According to the circular, the approval was granted by the Governor of Oyo State, Engineer Seyi Makinde, to ensure maximum participation of public officers in the epoch making event .
While stressing strict compliance with the directive, the government also instructed heads of MDAs to make adequate arrangements for skeletal services where necessary to avoid disruption of essential public functions.
The circular urged that the governor’s approval be given the widest publicity it deserves.
Oyo State was created on February 3, 1976, and the golden jubilee celebrations are expected to feature a series of commemorative events reflecting the state’s political, cultural, and developmental journey over the past five decades.
