
The Oyo State Police Command has commenced disciplinary and investigative actions following the alleged release of a suspect by some police officers in jobele police division.
The suspect was reported recently at the Police division by jobele residents for criminal case .

Addressing relevant stakeholders at a meeting held at the Police Headquarters , Eleyele, Ibadan, Commissioner of Police in the state, CP Femi Haruna expressed concerns over the alleged misconduct of some officers stationed at the Jobele division.

Haruna explained that the Command had taken appropriate steps to address the matter accordingly .According to him, the Divisional Police Officer in charge of the Jobele station has been issued a formal query, while officers allegedly involved in the incident have been taken into custody pending the outcome of the ongoing investigation.

He further disclosed that the matter has been transferred to the Police X-Squad, a specialized investigative unit of the Nigeria Police Force responsible for handling internal misconduct cases, to ensure a thorough and independent review.
The police boss also confirmed the deployment of tactical police teams to reinforce security operations across Oyo town and neighbouring communities.
In their separate remarks, Members of the Oyo State House of Assembly , Hon. Gbenga Oyekola, Olorunpoto Cephas Rahaman and Prince Oladeji Oparinde, stressed the importance of professionalism and accountability within the security system.
They urged the Police Command to ensure that the investigation is conducted without bias, reiterating that any officer found culpable must be held accountable in accordance with the law.
The legislators also appealed to residents of the community to remain calm and cooperate with the security agencies while investigations continue, assuring constituents that they will continue to engage relevant authorities to safeguard the rights and security of the people and prevent a recurrence of such incident.
