The former Deputy Governor of Oyo State, Engr. Rauf Aderemi Olaniyan, on Monday, announced his resignation as the Chairman of the Governing Council, Federal College of Education (Special), Oyo.
Olaniyan’s resignation, which takes effect immediately, was formally communicated to the Secretary to the Government of the Federation. The move is in compliance with existing regulations mandating public office holders with political ambitions to vacate their positions before participating in party primaries.

The development underscores the growing momentum within Nigeria’s political space, as key appointees begin to reposition themselves for electoral contests expected to shape the country’s leadership in 2027.

While announcing his departure, Olaniyan acknowledged the role of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu in his appointment and expressed appreciation for the opportunity to serve. He maintained that his tenure, though modest, contributed to institutional progress at the college.

Olaniyan puts forward Barrister (Mrs.) Inime Aguma as a suitable replacement, citing her experience and leadership capacity as critical to maintaining stability within the council.
He further commended the institution’s management, staff, and students for their cooperation throughout his time in office.
