Parents and guardians have been urged to attach greater importance to primary education by providing their children with the financial and other necessary support required at every stage of their academic journey.
An educationalist, Mr. Rasheed Abdul Wasiu made the call at the 2025/2026 End-of-Session Party and Valedictory Service of Nation’s Pride Group of Schools, held on Saturday at the school premises in Oyo town.
Mr. Rasheed, who was the guest speaker on the occasion, described primary education as the foundation and one of the most important stages of a child’s academic development, which requires maximum attention from all stakeholders in the education sector.
He noted that attaining academic excellence at every stage of learning requires the collective efforts of teachers, parents and pupils.
Mr. Abdul Wasiu emphasised the need for parents to prioritise academic standards and quality of teaching over beautiful school environments when choosing schools for their children.
He also encouraged teachers at Nation’s Pride Group of Schools to remain committed to imparting knowledge and nurturing the pupils, stressing that the reward for their dedication to teaching and mentoring is enormous.
The guest speaker further advised the graduating pupils to shun bad friends or groups but associate with brilliant and responsible minds as they prepare to proceed to secondary school.
Speaking on behalf of the school management, a retired Principal, Mr. Rasaq Hammed, appreciated the parents for their cooperation and continued support for the school..
Mr. Hammed urged the pupils to utilise the holiday period wisely by reading their books, assisting their parents with household responsibilities and staying safe.
Highlights of the event included the presentation of certificates to out-going pupils, cultural dance performances, a news presentation, parents’ challenge, dance competition and other entertaining activities.
