The Muslim Media Practitioners of Nigeria (MMPN), Oyo State Chapter, has inaugurated a new Executive Council to steer the affairs of the association for the next two years.
The inauguration follows the expiration of the tenure of Alhaji Abdur Rofih Adebayo of the Broadcasting Corporation of Oyo state ( BCOS) led administration, which was marked by remarkable achievements.
The transition of power held at the BCOS Central Mosque brought together muslim media professionals from various media organizations in Oyo state, religious leaders and stakeholders of the association.
Performing the swearing-in ceremony, Former Chairman of the Association, Alhaji Wasiu Aliyu lauded the immediate past executives for upholding the legacies of the founding fathers.
He acknowledged their efforts on the progress of the association , particularly, the foundation laying of the ongoing Islamic center project of the association at Amunloko Area of Oyo state.
He equally urged the new executives led by Brother Aliu Odukoya of the Nigerian Television Authority( NTA) to see their positions as service to humanity and put in the required energy in the interest of the association and Islam .
In his good will message, the Chief Imam, Ile Akade Central Mosque, Engr.Billaminu Raji emphasised the importance of fairness, trust and accountability while entrusted with leadership positions, noting that every leader would ultimately account for his or her stewardship before Allah.
The Chief Imam further charged the new leadership to work as a team, promote unity and place the collective interest of MMPN above personal considerations.
He urged them to uphold Islamic and professional values and contribute positively to the development of the association and society at large.
He also encouraged the executives to strengthen the bond among Muslim media practitioners across media organisations in Oyo State and utilise their professional platforms to promote peace, morality, unity and responsible journalism.
Also speaking, Former Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Information,Alhaji Hamzat Ladiran stressed that effective leadership requires transparency, consultation, fairness and a strong sense of responsibility.
He urged the new executives to remain accessible to members and administer the association without discrimination.
The new administration was encouraged to build on the achievements of previous leaderships while introducing initiatives capable of advancing the welfare, professional development and unity of Muslim media practitioners in the Oyo State.
In his acceptance speech, the new Chairman of MMPN, Oyo State Chapter, Brother Aliu Odukoya, expressed appreciation to the members of the association for the confidence reposed in him and other members of the new Executive Council.
He pledged that the new administration would work collectively to promote the welfare, unity and professional development of Muslim media practitioners in the state.
He also assured members that the administration would operate with transparency, accountability, fairness and the fear of Allah.
Odukoya called for the support and cooperation of all members, stressing that the success of the new administration would depend on their collective commitment, unity and willingness to work together for the progress of MMPN.
The inauguration ended with prayers for the success of the new administration, the progress of MMPN Oyo State Chapter, and the wellbeing of its members and the wider society.
