The member representing Ikeja Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives, Hon. Abiodun James Faleke, on Monday, donated a coaster bus to the Authentic Nigeria Football and Allied Sports Supporters Club (ANFASSC) as he was officially decorated as the National Patron of the body.
The colourful ceremony took place at the Nigeria Police College, Ikeja, during the lawmaker’s routine empowerment programme for his constituents.

During the event, the supporters’ club, led by its National President, Prince Abayomi Ogunjimi, also honoured the federal lawmaker with the prestigious title of Sports Philanthropist Political Leader of the Decade in recognition of his consistent contributions to sports development and youth engagement across Nigeria.

Speaking after receiving the honour, Hon. Faleke commended the supporters’ club for its unwavering commitment to promoting Nigerian sports and mobilising grassroots support for national teams at international competitions.

In a show of support for the growth of sports and fan mobilisation in the country, the lawmaker presented a coaster bus to ANFASSC to aid the club’s activities and ease the movement of its members to sporting events across the nation.
Observers at the event described the gesture as historic, noting that it is the first time in more than two decades that a supporters’ club in Nigeria is receiving such a level of support from an individual, further underscoring the increasing recognition of the role ANFASSC continues to play in promoting Nigerian sports.
The gesture also comes on the heels of the remarkable outing of the Abayomi Ogunjimi-led group at the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations in Morocco, where the supporters’ club stood out with its vibrant presence and unwavering backing of Nigerian teams throughout the tournament.
Faleke noted that sports remain a powerful tool for youth development, national unity and economic growth, assuring that he will continue to support initiatives that promote grassroots participation.
President of ANFASSC, Prince Abayomi Ogunjimi, while speaking at the event, said the federal lawmaker has raised the bar for political office holders across the country through his consistent support for sports and youth development.
He urged other politicians in Nigeria to emulate Hon. Faleke by empowering their constituents, promoting youth and sports development, and contributing meaningfully to the welfare and aspirations of the people.
The epoch-making event was graced by the Executive Governor of Lagos State, Babajide Sanwo-Olu, alongside several notable figures and political leaders in Lagos who came out to celebrate the lawmaker and witness the empowerment programme.

Chairman of Ikeja Local Government, Comrade Akeem Olalekan Dauda, his counterpart from Onigbongbo Local Council Development Area, Hon. Moyosore Adebanjo and Princess Samiat Abolanle Bada, Chairman of Ikosi-Isheri Local Council Development Area, were also in attendance.
The ceremony was marked by cheers from supporters, colourful cultural displays, and expressions of appreciation from members of the supporters’ club, who described the donation as a major boost to their operations and a strong encouragement to continue supporting Nigerian sports both at home and abroad.
