Youths in Akinmoorin, Afijio Local Government Area of Oyo State came out en masse on Saturday morning to fix some pot holes that have been causing accidents in the localities .
Some of the roads that caught the attention of the concerned Youths include Akinmoorin – Durbar Road and Akinmoorin – Awe Road.
Speaking on the state of some of the roads in Akinmoorin and its environ, Amoorin of Akinmoorin, His Royal Majesty, Oba Iyiola Solomon, pleads with both the state and local governments on the rehabilitation of these roads, which he described as death traps.
The monarch lauded the governor of Oyo state , Engr. Seyi Makinde on various laudable projects executed across the state. He also appealed to the governor to further extend his good gesture to the people of Akinmoorin, particularly on infrastructure.
“Some of our roads , here in Akinmoorin are not in good condition, most have turned to death traps.
Also speaking, former councillor, Mr Kunle Asado who spoke on behalf of the youths, lamented that efforts made to get the attention of concerned authorities on the roads yielded no result .
” We have called on the Federal, state and local governments, including our representatives in both the state and federal legislative to come to our aid but nothing has been done.
“We are appealing to the governor of the state to remember us in Akinmoorin , fullfil his promise so that indigenes and residents could enjoy his administration like other towns and cities.The governor promised to fix our roads within his 100 days in office during his campaign, and we hope this will come into a reality”
Mr Kunle recalls that Akinmoorin- Durbar Road was last fixed during the regime of the former governor, who is now the Olubadan of Ibadanland , His imperial Majesty , Oba Rashidi Adewolu ladoja.
