The alumini of Anglican Methodist Secondary School , Ajaagba Oyo as well as eminent personalities from far and near converged on Saturday at the school premises to celebrate 70th Anniversary of the school.
Personalities awarded on the occasion for their contributions to the development of the school were Senator ( Dr) Yunus Akintunde, Engr . Idris Adeoye,Engr. Raji Kazeem Kolawole, Mr. Sola Ogungbade .
Speaking on the occasion , father of the day, revered historian, Arch Bishop Ayo Ladigbolu, called on former students of the school to strive towards the advancement of legacies of their alma mater and sustainment of its heritage.
He described the reunion as a historic moment and a “new beginning” for the association, while emphasizing the need for them to keep the momentum , and rally round themselves to ensure long term impacts on the school and students.
In his remarks, the guest speaker, Dr. Adekunle Ogunmola, admonished the leadership of old students association to promote healthy rivalry among themselves to aid rapid development in various schools .
On his part , Senator (Dr.) Yunus Akintunde, emphasized the need for old students associations to leverage on Information Communication Technology in running the affairs of the associations .
He advised them to put in place a functional data base that will enable them to connect members at ease, particularly when opportunities come up.
The Federal Lawmaker, Hon. ( Prince) Akeem Adeniyi Adeyemi in an interview with journalists shortly after the event, urged the school to continue to impact knowledge in the students for them to compete favourably among their peers in Nigeria and beyond.
He also admonished the organizers of the event to make the judicious use of the fund contributed by the donors .
His words:”Anglican Methodist Secondary School Old Students celebrated 70th Founder’s day today, and I join them. I contribute my own quota to the development of the school being their representative. Before now , I have constructed a block of three classroom , two in Anglican school 1 and one in school 2 . For other projects they are doing, I donated Two Million Naira (#2 million) for the progress and development of the school.
“Engr. Idris was wonderful today, Senator Yunus donated #5 million, Engr . Idris donated lots of millions.
“I urge the school to continue to impact knowledge, ensure academic brilliancy in our children so that they can compete favourably in the university and globally.
“I want to thank the organizers of the event, and also admonish them to utilize the fund that we contributed judiciously . “
