
The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) Governors’ Forum has expressed disappointment over the recently held Nationwide bye-elections, citing over-militarization and irregularities.
In a communique signed by the Chairman of the forum , Senator Bala Mohammed at the end of the forum’s meeting held on Saturday in Gusau, Zamfara State, the forum called on the federal government to be more responsive to the lives and properties of the citizenry.
The forum reaffirmed its commitment to the November 15 National Convention .
The governors urged members to resist any attempts to derail the event, saying the party remains viable alternative to good governance and National development.
The forum commended the efforts of Zamfara State Governor in curbing insecurity in the state , while continued violence in other states like Katsina, Plateau, Niger, and Benue was condemned .
They praised PDP leaders and members for overcoming defection attempts, showcasing the party’s resilience.
They also extended condolences to Zamfara State following the passing of the Emir of Gusau and to Oyo State over the loss of traditional rulers.
The communique reads :”The Forum reaffirms its full commitment to the resolutions of the 101st National Executive Committee (NEC) meeting of July 2025 regarding the November 15 National Convention.
” Members are urged to resist all attempts to derail the convention by anti-party forces; but to see the PDP as the only democratic institution and viable alternative for restoring Nigeria along the path of good governance and national development.
“We commend initiatives by the government of Zamfara State in significantly curbing insecurity within the state; but condemns the continued monstrous killings in Katsina, Plateau, Niger and Benue States and other parts of the country.
The meeting had in attendance governors from Bauchi, Zamfara, Taraba, Adamawa, Oyo, Bayelsa, and Osun states.
