as OYRTMA Staff Wins Penalty Challenge
Relevant stakeholders and sports lovers in Oyo town and its environs gathered on Sunday afternoon at Durbar Stadium Oyo for the grand finale of the fourth edition of soccer challenge tagged ” Agbarasport Soccer Fiesta “
The soccer challenge packaged by the Chief Executive Officer, Agbara Sports Media Concept, an On Air Personality( OAP) on Dynasty FM , Oyo , Aderibigbe Ramoni, popularly known as “Agbara Sports” provided a platform for fans of foreign clubs in the ancient town to compete and also share lasting memories among themselves.
Chelsea Football Club were crowned champions of the competition following a 3-0 triumph over Manchester United.
Saheed Abdulrasheed scored the opening goal in the first half for Chelsea fans ,while Qoyum Shittu got a brace, one in each stanza of the thrilling encounter.
Meanwhile, Olonade Eyitayo Oluyinka edged Alhaji Kazeem Akinola in the final of the penalty challenge.
Delivering his address at the event, the convener , Aderibigbe Ramoni , lauded the courage of participants and cooperation throughout the period of the soccer fiesta .
He urged the clubs and individuals to uphold the spirit of sportsmanship , noting that his outfit will build on success recorded in the just concluded edition , come 2026.
He equally appreciated dignitaries and leadership of various clubs for their presence and unalloyed supports in sustaining the fiesta birthed four years ago .
Winner of the Penalty Challenge, Olonade Eyitayo Oluyinka, in a chat with journalists, submitted that converting spot kick into goal remain a difficult task.
Oluyinka, who is the Zonal Commander and State Sport Commander , Oyo State Road Traffic Management Authority (OYRTMA), Identified proper targeting as key component required to convert penalty kick into goal .
While commending his opponents for putting up a good fight at every state of the penalty challenge, Oluyinka advised the organizer of the event to extend invitation to more veterans in the next edition in a bid to further add glamour to the event.
Presenting the trophy to the Champions, Alhaji Akeem Omee, who is a Chelsea fan, commended the organizer for his contributions to sports development in the town .
“On the victory of Chelsea Football Club, Alhaji Akeem , attributed his side’s victory to tactics and wisdom deployed by his players, describing the feat as well deserved.
” We thank God on behalf of King Rahmon, I also thank all his fans for staying behind him . “King Rahmon is talented and I love his lifestyle . We hope and pray that the next edition will be better, we will come together, the entire fans, and see how we can support him significantly”
Highlights of the event were presentation of Trophy to the first position, medals and Cash Prize. Second position received cash prize and medals.
For the penalty challenge, first, second ,third and fourth positions went home with awards and medals, while match officials were presented medals .
