
The Federal Government of Nigeria has declared Friday, September 5, 2025, a public holiday to commemorate Eid-ul-Mawlid, marking the birth of the Holy Prophet Muhammad.
Minister of Interior, Dr. Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo, who made the announcement on behalf the government , extended warm greetings to Muslims in Nigeria and worldwide.
The Minister urged Muslims to reflect on the Prophet’s virtues of peace, love, humility, tolerance, and compassion, emphasizing their importance in building a united nation.

He also called on Nigerians of all faiths to pray for peace, security, and stability of the country.
Eid-ul-Mawlid is a significant occasion that commemorates the birth of Prophet Muhammad, observed on the 12th of Rabi’ al-Awwal. During this day, Muslims reflect on the Prophet’s life and teachings, engage in special prayers, and celebrate the birth of Prophet Muhammad.
