
The Kwara State chapter of the Sports Writers Association of Nigeria (SWAN) is set to launch its own online radio.
The initiative, driven by Former National Executive member of SWAN and Sports Administrator , Chief Alloy Chukwuemeka is in partnership with 132 Media, led by its Chief Executive Officer, Mr. Tijani Ajara.
The project is designed to expand the frontiers of sports journalism in Kwara State and Nigeria at large.
Speaking on the development, Mr Ajara said 132 Media is committed to deploying its technical expertise and broadcasting platform into the project. He described the partnership as a landmark for the media industry in Kwara, adding that it will give sports journalism a new and dynamic voice.
“Sports play a vital role in uniting people, and with this online radio, we are creating a modern channel for young journalists to express themselves while also giving sports fans quality content,” he said.
Also speaking, Chief Chukwuemeka explained that the project aligns with SWAN’s vision of keeping members at the cutting edge of global media practice.
“This is a dream that has been nurtured for years. With the Kwara SWAN Online Radio, we will not only give athletes the exposure they deserve but also strengthen grassroots sports development.
“It is also an opportunity for our members to embrace digital broadcasting and acquire new skills that are relevant in today’s media world,” he stated.
Kwara SWAN Chairman, Mr Ismail Ayodeji, commended the collaborative spirit behind the initiative, describing it as another bold step by the association to remain innovative and relevant in the evolving media landscape.
He urged members to rally behind the project, assuring that the station would not only promote sports in Kwara but also set a benchmark for other SWAN chapters nationwide.
