
The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has expelled several high-profile members of the party, including former Rivers State Governor, Nyesom Wike, Senator Samuel Anyanwu, Senior Advocate of Nigeria, Kamaldeen Ajibade, former Ekiti State Governor , Ayo Fayose, Hon. Austin Nwachukwu, among others, over allegations of anti-party activities.
The decision was made on Saturday following the acceptance of the report of the working committee by the majority of the delegates during the party’s 2025 National Convention in Ibadan, the Oyo State capital .
Delegates reportedly spent hours deliberating on issues of internal discipline and the party’s strategy ahead of the 2027 general elections.
According to reports, Officials emphasized that the decision was necessary to address long-standing acts of sabotage and factional disputes within the party.
The mass expulsion is one of the most significant disciplinary measures in the party’s recent history and is expected to generate strong political reactions across the country, and strengthen internal structure of the party to regain national relevance during the upcoming general elections.
