Elsewhere, Abia Warriors claimed a narrow 1–0 away win over Kwara United in Ilorin. Star forward Emeka Obioma converted a penalty three minutes after the restart, sealing all three points for the visitors and handing Kwara United another disappointing home outing.
At the Samson Siasia Stadium, Bayelsa United were held to a 1–1 draw by Ikorodu City. Emo James opened the scoring for the hosts in the 26th minute, but Tosin Oyedokun equalised for the Lagos-based club late in the game to snatch a deserved point.
Enyimba International and Rivers United played out a goalless stalemate in Aba in a tense fixture that failed to produce clear chances despite the pedigree of both sides. The result leaves both clubs still searching for momentum early in the campaign.
In Minna, Niger Tornadoes and newly promoted Kun Khalifat FC battled to a 1–1 draw. Usman Bala struck first for Tornadoes in the 17th minute, before Suleiman Yusuf restored parity midway through the second half.
Meanwhile, Warri Wolves secured a valuable 1–0 away win against Barau FC, with Justus Ohanu scoring the only goal in the 29th minute to return the Delta club to winning ways after back-to-back defeats.
