In a bold move to celebrate and motivate athletes representing Ogun State at the Gateway Games 2024, Governor Dapo Abiodun has announced a generous reward structure for medalists, including a ₦50,000 immediate cash gift for every athlete in camp.
Gold medalists according to the governor will receive# 2.5 million each, Silver medalists will earn #1.5 million each and Bronze medalists will be rewarded with #1million each .
Speaking during a visit to Team Ogun’s camp, Governor Abiodun praised the athletes for their hard work and dedication, describing them as “the best of the best.” He emphasized his administration’s commitment to rewarding excellence and keeping promises.
“As a government that values excellence, we believe in celebrating hard work, determination, and success,” the governor stated. “Every athlete currently in camp will receive ₦50,000 within the next 24 hours as a token of our appreciation for their dedication.”
Governor Abiodun reaffirmed his administration’s professionalism in governance, stating, “We are professionals in politics, and that means when we make promises, we keep them. We believe in backing our words with action.”
The announcement has sparked excitement among athletes, with many expressing renewed motivation to excel at the competition. The governor’s initiative aligns with his broader agenda of fostering sports development and youth empowerment in Ogun State.
