Contrary to widespread online claims, the Ogun State Police Command has refuted reports that three individuals were apprehended over an alleged shooting, targeting popular Nigerian comedian, Samuel Perry, popularly known as Broda Shaggi.
Viral posts suggested that the comedian sustained a gunshot injury to his leg while filming a skit near the Sango-Ota bridge in Ogun State, with three suspects supposedly taken into custody. The posts quickly circulated on X (formerly Twitter), accumulating tens of thousands of views.

The Lagos State Police Command had earlier been notified by a hospital that a gunshot victim had been admitted. Officers who responded reportedly identified the patient as Broda Shaggi. He was initially treated at a facility in Alakuko before being transferred to another hospital in the Government Residential Area (GRA), Ikeja, for further care.

Lagos police spokesperson, Abimbola Adebisi clarified that although the comedian received treatment in Lagos, the alleged incident occurred in Sango-Ota, which is outside Lagos police jurisdiction. He added that Investigations are ongoing.

Ogun State police spokesperson , Oluseyi Babaseyi dismissed the arrest claims, urging the public not to be misled by unverified reports. “Beware: this is fake news. Do not be misled by false reports or unverified claims,” he said.
Broda Shaggi’s manager, Olufemi Oguntamu, known as Femi Penzaar, has neither confirmed nor denied the shooting but assured that the entertainer is “fine.”
