The Oyo State Governor, Engr.Seyi Makinde, has laid a solid foundation for sustainable growth and continuity, repositioning the state’s healthcare system.
This was disclosed by the State Commissioner for Health, Dr. Oluwaserimi Ajetunmobi, while monitoring the free medical outreach organized across the 33 local government areas of the state as part of activities marking Oyo State @50.
Dr. Ajetunmobi noted that healthcare delivery remains one of the top priorities of Governor Makinde’s administration and has continued to enjoy strong commitment from the people-centred government.

While addressing beneficiaries at some inspected Primary Health Care Centres (PHCs) within Ibadan, the Commissioner commended the impressive turnout of elderly persons and other residents in need, who are the primary targets of the outreach.
She urged beneficiaries to return to the health centres for follow-up treatment where necessary, explaining that not all cases may be concluded in one day.
Also speaking, the Executive Secretary of the Oyo State Primary Health Care Board, Dr. Muyideen Babatunde Olatunji, commended Governor Makinde’s intentional approach to healthcare delivery, describing it as one of the strongest pillars of his administration.
He revealed that across 351 wards in the state, each now boasts of a standard PHC facility, supported by the recruitment of 3,933 healthcare personnel deployed to various facilities statewide.
He added that eight years ago, many residents could not confidently bring family members to PHCs for treatment, a situation that has now significantly changed.

Dr. Olatunji expressed optimism that healthcare delivery in the state would continue to improve, describing the Oyo State @50 celebration as a defining moment in the state’s healthcare journey.
In his remarks, the Executive Chairman of Oluyole Local Government, Engr. Akeem Olatunji, described healthcare delivery in Oyo State as second to none, noting that the administration has consistently placed the health of the people at the front burner.
