As the pressure from rising fuel prices continues to bite, the Oyo State Government has introduced a temporary relief measure aimed at softening the economic strain on workers.
Governor Seyi Makinde announced that civil servants across the state will receive an additional ₦10,000 monthly, to support their transport fare, which will commence by April.

The relief measure announced on Monday is expected to last for three months. The allowance cut across all the categories of workers in both state and local government service.

Meanwhile, the measure is being positioned as a short-term buffer rather than a long-term solution, with the governor indicating that an extension will depend on how the fuel price situation evolves.

Makinde said the government is exploring ways to widen the reach of the support scheme beyond formal public sector workers, signaling concerns about the broader economic impact on residents.
