Traffic was disrupted on the Ondo–Akure Road on Tuesday following an accident involving a commercial truck that veered off the road and spilled its cargo, eyewitnesses have confirmed.
The incident occurred along a busy stretch of the highway when the truck, reportedly conveying bags of agricultural produce, lost control and overturned by the roadside. The impact caused the vehicle’s load to scatter across the shoulder of the road, attracting residents and passersby to the scene.

Despite the scale of the crash and the presence of several people at the scene, no death was recorded. Some occupants of the vehicle were said to have sustained minor injuries, though they did not require critical medical attention.
Emergency responders and road safety officials were later seen managing the situation and ensuring order.
Security personnel mounted temporary control measures to prevent looting and to keep curious onlookers at a safe distance, while efforts were made to recover the fallen goods and clear the obstruction.
Vehicular movement slowed considerably, leading to a brief traffic build-up before partial normalcy was restored.
Residents attributed the accident to a combination of over
speeding and the poor condition of certain sections of the Ondo–Akure Road, calling on authorities to improve road safety and enforce traffic regulations more strictly.
As of the time of filing this report, the affected truck had yet to be evacuated but Concerned officials assured road users that complete clearance would be done to restore free vehicular movement.
