Vice President, Kashim Shettima, GCON, is set to chair a two-day National Economic Council (NEC) Conference aimed at strengthening economic coordination and accelerating inclusive growth across Nigeria.
The conference, scheduled for February 9–10, 2026, will hold at the Banquet Hall of the Presidential Villa, Abuja, and is being convened by the Federal Government through the Ministry of Budget and Economic Planning.
The high-level meeting is expected to bring governors of the 36 states together, relevant stakeholders, development partners, and private-sector leaders to align federal and state economic strategies.
The conference is themed “Delivering Inclusive Growth and Sustainable Development: The Renewed Hope National Development Plan,” and is designed to provide clear policy direction for states in line with the Federal Government’s long-term economic agenda.

Minister of Budget and Economic Planning, Sen. Abubakar Atiku Bagudu, will convene the event, while Dr. Deborah Oko Odo, Permanent Secretary of the Ministry and Secretary of the NEC, said deliberations would focus on pressing macroeconomic priorities critical to national development.
Key discussions will centre on fiscal coordination, investment mobilisation, and shared development strategies between the federal and state governments.
President Bola Ahmed Tinubu will attend the conference as Special Guest of Honour, underscoring the administration’s commitment to deepening reforms under the Renewed Hope Agenda.
