The Omupo kingdom was thrown into joy on Wednesday , October 7, 2026 following the pronouncement of the elevation of the revered monarch, His Royal Majesty, Oba Muhammed-Yakubu Adebayo Buari II, Ilufemiloye, from the second class monarch to the first class by the kwara state government under the leadership of His Excellency, Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq.
Historically, the Olumu stool is tied to Omupo, while the founder of the town is linked to Ikuojenrola Adebari Alo mole and his father , Olomu Aperan .It was also established that the early occupants of the kingdom were related to Ile – Ife in Osun State.

Records have it that previous monarchs did their best for the kingdom during their reigns , including Oba Jimoh Olarinoye, who reigned from 1974 to 2009.

In 2010, Oba Yakubu Adebayo Buhari attained the throne . Since then, the quest for the elevation of the monarch to First – Class Oba by the people of the kingdom commenced. Today , the kingdom is full of praises , joy and happiness for the landmark achievement.

Now that the request has been granted, it is important to remind sons and daughters of the Kingdom that the elevation comes with responsibility. A first -class stool should not only be celebrated for its status, it should be seen as a stronger rallying point for peace , unity and development.
Communities are equally expected to work together and support initiatives that will present Omupo to the global world for progress and prosperity.
Let me use this medium to join sons and daughters of the kingdom, both in Nigeria and the diaspora in celebrating this milestone , and also congratulate His Royal Majesty, Oba Muhammed-Yakubu Adebayo Buari II, Ilufemiloye, on this historic elevation.
The efforts of the royal family, the Olomu-in-Council, the Chiefs, the Omupo Descendants Union and every son and daughter of Omupo are much appreciated.
The kingdom also acknowledged the unflinching support of the visionary leader, Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq on the elevation, we say a Big thank you ,Sir
May this new chapter bring peace and progress to Omupo. May Almighty God grant Kabiyesi more wisdom, good health, long reign and prosperity.
Congratulations, Kabiyesi.
