Akwa Ibom Governor Announces Payment Of #80,000 New Minimum Wage
Akwa Ibom Governor, Umo Eno has expressed his readiness to pay a new minimum wage of N80,000 for all workers in the state.
Commissioner for Information, Comrade Ini Ememobong, made this known in statement issued on Wednesday.
The statement also indicated that a committee had been put in place by the Governor to ensure a seamless execution of the increment .
The committee will be chaired by the Head of Service in the state , Effiong Essien, and has been given a one-month deadline to submit its report.
Other members of the committee were the Chairman of the State Civil Service Commission, the Chairman of the Local Government Service Commission, the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Finance, and leaders of labour unions such as the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) and the Trade Union Congress (TUC).
