Comply with use of Approved Textbooks,Oyo Govt Warns Private Public Schools

The Oyo State Government has issued a warning to private and public schools across the State to comply with the use of approved textbooks
The commissioner for Education, Science and Technology, Prof.Salihu Adelabu gave the warning while monitoring some Public and private schools within Egbeda and Lagelu Local Government Areas of the state.
The Commissioner who was represented by the Director, Curriculum Development, Mrs Alamu Adebunmi said
the monitoring was to
ascertain the level of compliance of school administrators with the use of the approved list of Books by the Ministry for use.

He stated further that the move was part of government efforts to regulate the education sector and ensure that all schools, provide quality education to their students, saying that the use of approved textbooks is crucial in achieving this goal, as it ensures that students are taught with materials that are relevant, accurate, and aligned with the state’s curriculum.

He explained that the Oyo State Government has zero tolerance for examination malpractices, adding that all school administrators must key into government policies and directives that will cumulatively improve the performances of students in their examinations with the use of approved recommended textbooks.
He reiterated that the exercise will be a continuous one that will cut across all the 33 Local Governments Areas of the State.

The team checked the availability of the Nigerian Educational Research and Development Council (NERDC) approved curriculum, textbooks, and arrangement of the textbooks on the School library shelves, Diaries, Lesson Notes and all other related Statutory Records.
