
Oyo State Forum of Directors of Education and Social Services representing all its members from the 33 local government has praised the state government’s efforts in improving education and social services.
This was among the submissions of the executive members of the association while paying a courtesy visit to the office of the State Commissioner for Women Affairs and Social Inclusion,Hon.(Mrs.) Toyin Balogun.
The group also applauded the strategic role the ministry has been playing with a view to reducing poverty and ameliorating the harsh economic realities in the state through various social welfare intervention.
The group expressed their continued commitment to the people’s centric government led by Governor Seyi Makinde.
They pledged their commitment and support for the good work the Ministry is doing and also entreated the Honourable Commissioner for even greater synergy than in times past
In her remarks, the Commissioner appreciated the visit and indicated her recognition of the fact that the mandate of the Department of Education/Social Services indeed affirms the department as the local government extension of the ministry
She stated that not only will the department be engaged more integrally in the programs and interventions of her ministry, there are plans in the offing to organize training programs/seminars in collaboration with multilateral like UNICEF,UN Women & UNFPA for the department in the 33 LGs which will further expose them to international best practice in handling cases related to the vulnerable demographics in the state(women, children,elderly & physically challenged)
She said this move is also expected to enhance their effectiveness in the discharge of their duties
The Commissioner charged them to be up and doing. She also implored them to stay consistent in their support for the Government of His Excellency Governor Makinde and their commitment to supporting the vulnerable members of our society.
The forum was represented by Alhaja Najimudeen Kudirat Ibadan North Local Government; Mrs. I.O Sunmonu from Ibadan North LCDA; Mr Olanrewaju Adepoju Aare Latoosa; Mrs Bosede Ilugbaro Egbeda Local Government.
