
Ibadan based non- governmental organizations, Harafat Oluyedun Foundation in collaboration with the David Oni Initiative on Friday supported indigent students with about four million naira scholarships and bursary awards.
The foundations also conducted a free eye check for individuals while over one hundred free eye glasses were distributed to the beneficiaries.

Exceptional students in various fields and distinguished individuals were honored with different awards and cash gifts during the 2026 edition of scholarships and bursaries award of the foundations held at the College of Nursing and Mid-widery, Eleyele, Ibadan.





Founders of the organizations, Professor David Oni and Chief Oluyedun Adediran while speaking on the occasion revealed that the gesture was meant to impact lives positively, particularly, the less privileged.

Professor Oni encouraged the beneficiaries of the scholarships and bursaries not to look down upon themselves but be open minded and hungry for success in life .


Speaking on the topic” The Nurse You Choose to Be, Attitude, Confidentiality and the Cost of Negligence,the guest lecturer, Olaosebikan Omolara ( PhD) of the Apex , CNO, AMTH Ibadan , emphasised the need for nurses to uphold the ethics of the profession and be on top of their jobs at all times .
Olaosebikan, who spoke through an expert , Mrs Latifat Ajisafe, described nurses as the mouth piece of patients who must not divulge private information of patients to unauthorized personalities without being authorized by concerned patients.


Enumerating some of the attributes and quality good nurses are expected to possess, Olaosebikan, said the need for proper documentation of patients treatment and medical histories by the nurses cannot be overemphasized.
” The nursing profession is a calling and those in the field have to be compassionate. Attitude and Confidentiality are also key . Nurses have to manage information entrusted in their care by the patients carefully, take responsibility for every task to prevent negligence of duties because negligence can harm patients and nurses”

In his Address,the Chairman of the occasion,Dr Kayode Ogunkunle admonished the beneficiaries to use the bursaries judiciously, study hard and embrace integrity.


Also speaking, the Chief Host and provost, College of Nursing and Mid-widery , Eleyele, Dr Gbonjubola Owolabi lauded the donors for raising the hope of the Indigent students of the college with the scholarships and bursary awards given to them
She described the intervention as a big relief for the college while calling on other alumni of the school to emulate the commendable gestures of the donors by supporting and giving back to their alma mater .



The provost equally charged the students of the college who are beneficiaries to be studious and remember to give back to the society and system that made them in the near future.

In a brief lecture delivered on better restoration of vision, the Chief Nursing Officer in the college, Mrs. Tijani Adebola , warned against persistent exposure of eyes to light and consumption of alcohol.

She submitted that the intake of foods and fruits that are rich in vitamin C and E , early detective, prompt treatment and regular eye check are key to a good vision restoration.
