The United Kingdom Prime Minister,Keir Starmer has announced his resignation as Labour leader and prime minister .
The decision follows a lack of confidence in his ability to lead the party to the general election in the country.
Keir Starmer also believed in the position of the party as he described becoming prime minister as the “proudest moment” of his life
Starmer said further that he inherited a Labour Party that was “politically, financially and morally bankrupt”
Starmer said a new Labour leader will be in place before parliament returns in September, adding that he will ensure an orderly handover of power, and will give his successor his full support.
Getting emotional toward the end of his speech, Starmer said he would now be the best husband and dad to his “fantastic wife” and “beautiful children”
