Labour holds emergency meeting Today as FEC steps down memo on new minimum wage
The Nigeria Labour Congress ( NLC) and the Trade Union Congress( TUC) , have called for an emergency meeting over the issues surrounding the approval of new minimum wage.
The meeting scheduled to hold on Wednesday was as a result of the decision of the Federal Executive Council, FEC, to step down the memo on the minimum wage on Tuesday.
According to media report, the meeting is slated for 10 am Today at the NLC Headquarters.
It was also gathered that the Minister of Information and National Orientation, Mohammed Idris, said all 39 items on the agenda of the meeting held yesterday were all taken except the memo on the minimum wage.
Idris said FEC could not decide on it because it involves local government, states, FG, Organized private sector and labour unions.
He said the memo on the new minimum wage was stepped down so that the President, Bola Tinubu could consult widely before a final submission is made to the National Assembly.
