Makinde Signs Mobilization Agency and Socio-economic Development Bill into Law
calls for adherence to laws of the land
Oyo State Governor, Engr. Seyi Makinde, on Tuesday signed Oyo State Mobilization Agency and Socio-economic Development bill 2024 into law to address divers challenges facing the state and Nigeria at large.
the governor also appointed special assistant on Socio-Economic Matters, Dr. Moronkola Thomas as Director-general of the agency.
Governor Makinde while signing the bill at secretariat, Ibadan, said the established law is saddled with responsibility of continuous mobilization and sensitization to enhancing socio-economic, political and environmental upliftment.
He therefore urged people of Oyo State to henceforth abide by laws of the land, stop street selling, disobeying of traffic law and indiscriminate dumping of refuse, to avoid government hammer falling on them.
He stated that “This law is saddled with the responsibility of continuous mobilization and sensitization to enhance socio-economic, and environmental upliftment.
“Let me warn the recalcitrant people to abide by the laws of the land and avoid street selling, disobeying traffic laws, and indiscriminate dumping of refuse.
In his remarks, special guest at the signing ceremony, former Minister of information and National Orientation, Professor Jerry Gana commended the initiative, stressing that it will help to unlock local wisdom and potentials.
While presenting the bill, Speaker, Oyo State Assembly, Honourable Adebo Ogundoyin , said it embodies collective aspirations for sustainable development which geared towards driving socio-economic advancement and community focused programs.
The governor later led members of the event to official opening of the Agency’s office located at 5, Bodija , Ibadan.
