National Youth Games: Team Oyo Wins Gold, Silver Medals

Team Oyo commenced its campaign at the 8th National Youth Games on a good note as athletes won medals in swimming and karate events.
In the swimming pool at the Stephen Keshi Stadium, Michelle Ibidapo struck gold in the 100m Individual Medley Girls event, while Timileyin Olaiya took silver in the 50m Backstroke event, just moments later.
At the Indoor Multipurpose Hall, Luke Vincent put up a valiant fight in the +50kg boys Karate final, securing a silver medal despite losing to his opponent from host state Delta.
On the football pitch, Team Oyo’s male team beat Taraba state (2-1) in their opening game, thanks to a brace from Salawu Afeez. They will face Osun on Sunday, 15th September.
Tomorrow, Saturday, 14th September, two Team Oyo athletes will compete in the Boys’ Singles Table-tennis event. Usman Ayoola will face Team Kogi’s Dada Sambo, while Ahmed Ayatullahi will face Delta’s Joseph Marvellous in the semi-final.
