Switzerland -based Nigerian Coach, Adeyemi Antony, popularly known as Mr. Triple A, has described the immediate past President of the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF), Alhaji Ibrahim Musa Gusau, as a brave man following his resignation from office amid calls for reforms in the Nigerian football by concerned Nigerians .
Coach Adeyemi made this known while featuring on a live edition of Sports Gallery, hosted by Faith Akindele (Mr Stereo) on Crowther 88.5 FM, Oyo.
He lauded Gusau for what he described as a courageous decision to resign at the right time, saying the former NFF president demonstrated courage by listening to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and following the directive of the National Sports Commission (NSC).
According to the tactician, the reform is necessary to prevent Nigerian football from total collapse.
“I am pleased, and I appreciate the President of Nigeria, Bola Ahmed Tinubu, and the National Sports Commission for hearing the cries of Nigerians. I also appreciate Nigerian journalists for the important role they played,” Coach Adeyemi said.
He acknowledged that Gusau inherited several challenges when he assumed office and made efforts to address some of the problems within the federation.
According to him, although Gusau faced difficulties, particularly from internal interests and what he described as “cabals” within the organisation, the former NFF president still recorded some achievements during his tenure.
Coach Adeyemi noted that Gusau secured a CAF appointment and was also part of a period in which the Super Falcons won the WAFCON, while Nigeria returned to the Olympic Games after several years of absence.
He noted that more needed to be done before Gusau’s tenure could be regarded as a complete success.
“Numbers of trophies won will determine success.Achievements should ultimately be measured by tangible results and silverware.
