NPFL: Lobi Stars hold Shooting Stars to draw in Ibadan

Shooting Stars Sports Club (3SC) of Ibadan were on Wednesday, held to a 2-2 draw at home by Lobi Stars of Makurdi.

It was a day the god of soccer refused to give the Ibadan soccer lords the much desired maximum points against the visitors who soaked pressure from the homers to run away with a point from the matchday 25 tie played inside the mainbowl of the Lekan Salami Sports Complex.

Akpan Joshua had given Shooting Stars a well deserved lead, scoring the opener in the 17th the minute, with Sodiq Ibrahim providing the pass.

The Oluyole Warriors then pressed for the second goal, but were shocked in the 34th minute, when the visitors levelled up against the run of play, through Ossy Martins.

Lobi Stars shot to the lead at the close of the first half with Ossy Martins again on target, thus giving his side a 2-1 lead into the break.

Shooting Stars boosted their fight to get the equaliser, with the introduction of Ukeme William and Mustapha Adams.

Sodiq Ibrahim restored parity when his close range shot beat goalkeeper Japhet Opobo, to raise the hopes of victory for the hosts.

That was not to be as the Makurdi based side, stood their ground to survive the Oluyole Warriors’ onslaught, especially towards the last stages of the match, despite playing one man short, after Ossy Martins was expelled.

The Ibadan soccer lords, who remain second on the log despite the draw, will next Wednesday, face Enyimba FC in Aba in a matchday 26 fixture.

Similarly, Bayelsa United and Nasarawa United settled for a 2-2 draw , the clash between Sunshine Stars of Akure Kano Pillars also ended 1-1 in Akure.

Akwa United defeated Rivers United by 2 goals to 1 , Abia Warriors beat Rangers , 1-0 , while Bendel Insurance shared point with El – Kanemi Warriors as the game ended goalless .

Niger Tornadoes defeated Heartland FC 2-1 , while Plateau United lost to Ikorodu City in Lagos , two goals to one.
