

Nigeria’s Minister of Education, Olatunji Alausa has advocated for the extension of one-year mandatory National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) to two years.
The minister said this on Friday, during a visit by the Director-General of the NYSC, Brigadier General Olakunle Nafiu to his office in Abuja.
Alausa , who Commended the digitalized process of the scheme, submitted that the racketeering and forging of certificates have been reduced by the management of NYSC.
He also addressed the lingering issue of the exemption of part-time OND graduates for NYSC.
He equally advocated for the extension of NYSC Skill Acquisition and Entrepreneurship Development Training programme content for Corps Members.
“You have done so well as an organization. Let NYSC give people more opportunity to become job creators that will meet the needs of the country”, the minister said.
In his response, the NYSC DG , Brigadier General Olakunle Nafiu, said the minister has been an integral part of the feats achieved by the scheme.
He also advocated for the constitution of a database of Nigerian youths who travel outside the country to obtain foreign degrees.
