Media Practitioners in Oyo town and its environs, sports lovers among others on Sunday converged at St.Bernadine’s Girls Grammar School , Oyo to identify with Oyomesi FM On – Air Personality , Babatunde Akanji, popularly known as Omo Arugbo Ojo on its maiden show and award ceremony.
Distinguished personalities awarded at the event tagged” Omo Arugbo Ojo Day’ 1.0 for outstanding performances in various fields and love for sports were Hammed Aremu (Alameda Omo Aremu) of Dynasty FM , Oyo, Faleye Oyegade popularly known as ( G money) Prophet Ifeoluwa Moses and versatile Yoruba Sports Presenter on Dynasty FM , Aderibigbe Ramon also known as Agbara Sport.
Speaking, founder of Omo Arugbo Ojo Entertainment Network and convener of the project, Babatunde Akanji, said the essence of the event was to create a platform where presenters will interface with their fans and also appreciate them.
He explained that the honours bestowed on the personalities was in appreciation of the tremendous supports received from them .
He thanked everyone who contributed to the success of the programme .
The Production Manager, Dynasty FM, Hammed Aremu , while speaking with journalists shortly after receiving the award , advocated for effective collaboration among media practitioners in Oyo town , saying this will enable those in the industry to compete favourably with colleagues practicing outside Oyo town.
” I was so surprised, I never knew the award is coming, mine is just to attend the event today, I am glad and happy for the honour”
” The media is doing great and better in Oyo.We now have a wider coverage, you can now tune to two or three radio stations. I will suggest those in this industry here should put collaboration over competition”
Earlier in his welcome address, Coach Kayode Solanke , appreciated fans of the convener , Babatunde Akanji here In Nigeria and the diaspora for standing behind him over the years .
Highlight of the event attended by members of the Sports Writers Association of Nigeria ( SWAN ), Oyo zone led by Ace Journalist, Dayo Ojo and other notable groups and individuals were Bible quiz, comedy, cultural display by Modupe Oluwa Crew , presentation of awards amongst others
In the Bible quiz, Akanbi Elizabeth, Adediran Emmanuel and Samuel Lydia came first, second and third in group A respectfully. In group B , Adelani Favour emerged first , Olaniyan Emmanuel took the second position while Olaogun Oreoluwa came third
