Oyo Govt Arrests 7 Illegal Diesel Traders
The Oyo State Government, on Monday, arrested seven illegal diesel traders and a street beggar along the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway and Mokola roundabouts respectively.
The Commissioner for Environment and Natural Resources, Architect Abdulmojeed Mogbonjubola during an enforcement tour to the areas ordered the arrest of the violators.
The Commissioner, while addressing journalists after the enforcement exercise, disclosed that the ministry had given strict warnings about three consecutive times, issuing warnings and vacation notices to all offenders.
He expressed his displeasure over the failure of the illegal traders to halt their activities, despite initial demolition of unauthorized shanties and tents, constructed around the axis.
Mogbonjubola re-echoed that Oyo State Government had prohibited illegal trading of Diesel, illegal habitation along the Expressway and the borderline of the State as a way to check illegal habitation and criminality.
Similarly, a street beggar was apprehended and arrested at Mokola while several others took to their heels for fear of arrest.
Meanwhile, the arrested Environmental offenders were to be handed over to the Oyo State Rule of Law Agency for prosecution to serve as deterrence to others.
