Team Oyo Maintains Winning Form At National Youth Games

as Owoyele Fathia sets new record for Pacesetter State

Team Oyo on Saturday continued its impressive performance at the 8th National Youth Games in Asaba as athletes claimed multiple gold medals in various events.

Owoyele Fathia made history by winning three gold medals in the 49kg Girls Weightlifting event, setting a new record for the highest individual gold medal haul for Team Oyo so far at the Games.

Later in the day, Ayoola Usman and Ayatullahi Ahmed secured another gold medal for Team Oyo in the Table-tennis Boys Doubles final, defeating Team Edo 3-1 in a thrilling match.

The gold rush continued in the athletics field events, where Malachi Ayinchie Clinton won gold in the Boys Shotput event with a throw of 13.86m.

Also, Timileyin Olaiya added to his medal tally with a bronze medal in the 50m freestyle boys event, following his earlier silver medal win.

With these latest victories, Team Oyo has solidified its position as a top contender at the National Youth Games.

At the end of events from Saturday 14th 2024, Team Oyo had 6 gold, 2 silver and 1 bronze medal.
