WAEC plans to end paper-based exams in Nigeria
The West African Examination Council (WAEC) has revealed that the council would soon migrate from paper-based exams in Nigeria to electronics.
Head of the National Office for WAEC, Dr. Amos Dangut, made this known during a recent monitoring of the ongoing West African Senior Secondary School Certificate Examination (WASSCE) in Abeokuta alongside the Permanent Secretary of Ogun State’s Ministry of Education, Mrs. Mariam Oloko,
Dr . Amos Dangut said the council aims to equip approved examination centres across the country with electronic devices to facilitate computer-based testing (CBT).
“We are looking ahead,” Dr. Dangut explained. “In the future, schools with the necessary facilities for CBT will be able to offer exams on computers. Those schools that aren’t quite prepared yet can continue using the traditional pen-and-paper method.”
