The Yobe State Pilgrims Commission has inaugurated three sensitisation committees, one for each senatorial district, to intensify public awareness and encourage the early registration of intending pilgrims for the 2027 Hajj exercise.
The committees, constituted by the Executive Chairman of the Commission, Alhaji Mai Aliyu Usman, commenced a statewide sensitisation tour to educate prospective pilgrims on the registration process and other key requirements for the forthcoming pilgrimage.
During the tour, the committees announced that the initial deposit for the 2027 Hajj has been fixed at ₦7.5 million, while stressing that only two months remain before the registration deadline. They explained that the National Hajj Commission of Nigeria (NAHCON) and the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia have fixed 25 September 2026 as the final date for the registration of intending pilgrims worldwide.
The Commission urged all prospective pilgrims to complete their registration without delay to avoid missing the deadline.
The committees further explained that all Hajj payments must be made only through approved channels, including designated desk officers at the Commission’s headquarters and authorised Local Government Hajj fare collectors. They warned members of the public against handing over money to unauthorized individuals claiming to facilitate Hajj registration, noting that anyone involved in such fraudulent activities would face appropriate legal action.
The sensitisation teams also called on the 17 Local Government Chairmen, traditional rulers, Islamic scholars, and community leaders to support the awareness campaign by encouraging eligible Muslims to register early.
They noted that the final Hajj fare for 2027 may differ from that of 2026, urging intending pilgrims to await the official announcement by the relevant Saudi authorities.
In addition, the Executive Chairman advised intending pilgrims whose international passports are close to expiration to renew them promptly to prevent delays in visa processing.
The committees equally urged zonal officers to remain vigilant, ensure all allocated Hajj slots are filled, and sustain public sensitisation efforts until the registration deadline.
The Commission expressed profound appreciation to the Executive Governor of Yobe State, Hon. Mai Mala Buni, CON, for his unwavering support and commitment, which has continued to enhance the successful conduct of Hajj operations in the state.
