The National Sports Commission (NSC) has formally reaffirmed Engr. (Dr.) Chukwudi Dimkpa as the duly recognised and substantive President of the Karate Federation of Nigeria (KFN), following repeated requests for clarification from the Union of African Karate Federations (UFAK).
In an official correspondence dated November 2, 2026, addressed to the President of UFAK, the Commission categorically restated its position on the leadership of the Nigerian karate governing body.

The letter, referenced NSC/FEAD/FED/KFN/CON/26/56, followed enquiries from UFAK dated June 15 and September 16, 2026, seeking clarification on the authentic leadership of the Federation.

According to the Commission, its earlier response of June 26, 2026, had informed UFAK that the issues surrounding the Federation’s administrative structure were undergoing review and that a definitive position would be communicated upon conclusion of the process.

Following a comprehensive review of the National Sports Federation Elections held on October 25, 2025, the NSC has now formally communicated its position to the continental body.
In paragraph four of the letter, the Commission stated:
“Pursuant to a comprehensive review of the National Sports Federation Elections of 25th October 2025, the National Sports Commission hereby confirms that Mr Chukwudi Dimkpa remains the duly recognized and substantive President of the Karate Federation of Nigeria.”
The clarification is particularly significant as it comes directly in response to enquiries initiated by the continental karate governing body, providing an official statement of the Nigerian sports authority’s position on the Federation’s leadership.
The Commission further reiterated its commitment to transparency, accountability and good governance, while expressing its desire to sustain cordial relations with UFAK in advancing the development of karate across Africa.
The correspondence was signed by Kabir Yusuf on behalf of the Chairman of the National Sports Commission.
The latest development provides a renewed basis for strengthening administrative stability, institutional coordination and international engagement within Nigerian karate.
It also underscores the importance of ensuring that the Federation’s official representation at national, continental and international engagements reflects the leadership recognised by the appropriate Nigerian sports authorities.
With the NSC’s position now formally communicated to UFAK, attention is expected to turn towards harmonising relevant administrative records and strengthening cooperation among the Federation, the continental body and other international karate institutions.
For the Karate Federation of Nigeria, the priority remains the development of athletes, technical excellence, institutional stability and the advancement of Nigerian karate on the global stage.
