— HOS Seeks Governor’s Presence, Others
The excitement surrounding the 2026 Oyo State Public Service Games is set to reach its climax as the football competition prepares for its grand finale on Tuesday, November 10, 2026 at the Lekan Salami Stadium, Adamasingba, Ibadan, expected to commence by 3pm .
The competition, approved by the Oyo State Government, represents a significant initiative towards promoting physical fitness, healthy living, teamwork, unity and stronger interpersonal relationships among civil and public servants across the state.
The Oyo State Head of Service, Dr Adenike Ayobami Fasina, mni, has called on the Executive Governor of Oyo State, His Excellency, Engineer Seyi Makinde,FNSE, members of the State Executive Council, permanent secretaries, heads of ministries, departments and agencies, as well as all civil and public servants, to come out in large numbers and identify with the grand finale.
“The Public Service Games provide us with a unique opportunity to demonstrate that beyond our respective official responsibilities, we are one united family with a shared commitment to excellence, teamwork and collective progress.
“I warmly invite His Excellency, the Executive Governor of Oyo State, Engineer Oluwaseyi Makinde, FNSE, members of the State Executive Council and the entire public service community to come out and support our finalists. Your presence will inspire the players, strengthen our bond of unity and demonstrate the importance our government attaches to the physical and social well-being of its workforce.
“Let us celebrate not just the winners, but the spirit of participation, sportsmanship, discipline and togetherness that this competition represents. I look forward to seeing us all at Adamasingba as we make the 2026 Public Service Games a memorable celebration.”
According to the fixtures released for the football finals, two exciting encounters have been lined up to determine the champions in both the female and male categories.
In the female final, the Youth and Sports Sector will lock horns with the Safety and Security Sector in what promises to be an entertaining contest between two determined sides eager to emerge champions.
The male category will also produce an intriguing encounter as the Safety and Security Sector takes on the Education Sector for the ultimate prize.
Both matches are expected to showcase the sporting abilities, competitive spirit and commitment of Oyo State public servants, demonstrating that excellence in public service can also be complemented by sporting activities and physical development.
Beyond the quest for trophies and individual recognition, the 2026 Public Service Games provide an important platform for strengthening relationships among workers across government ministries, departments and agencies.
The initiative also reinforces the importance of sports as a vehicle for promoting wellness, discipline, unity and improved productivity within the public service.
All civil and public servants, sports administrators and football enthusiasts across Ibadan and beyond are warmly invited to turn out in large numbers to support the finalists and witness the exciting conclusion of the football event.
