The Football Fans Club of Nigeria (FFCN) has raised the tempo of its mobilisation ahead of the Super Eagles’ opening matches of the 2027 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) qualifiers, with National President, Ambassador Oluwakemi Ogunfuwa , leading the charge to ensure massive supporters’ presence in Uyo and later in Bissau.
The Super Eagles are scheduled to begin their qualifying campaign against Madagascar on Friday, September 25, at the Godswill Akpabio Stadium, Uyo, before travelling to Bissau for the Matchday Two encounter against Guinea-Bissau on September 29.
For FFCN, the mission is clear: stand behind the national team at home and carry the Nigerian spirit across the border.
“Mama Nigeria,” as Ogunfuwa fondly called, said the supporters’ body is leaving nothing to chance in its preparations, stressing that the Super Eagles must feel the presence and passion of Nigerian supporters throughout the qualifying campaign.
“We are ready for the Super Eagles. From Uyo to Bissau, FFCN will be there. Our players must know that they are not alone; behind them is a nation of passionate supporters. We will sing, cheer and encourage them from the first whistle until the final whistle. Wherever the Eagles fly, the voice of Nigeria will be heard,” Ogunfuwa declared.
A former CAF Award winner, Ogunfuwa has continued to champion an organised and patriotic supporters’ culture around Nigerian football. Her leadership of FFCN has placed emphasis on mobilising supporters not only for home fixtures but also for crucial away assignments involving the national team.
The objective, according to the supporters’ body, is to transform the Godswill Akpabio Stadium into a sea of Nigerian colours and provide the team with the vocal encouragement required throughout the encounter.
Ogunfuwa believes the opening fixture provides an opportunity for Nigerian supporters to demonstrate unity and renewed commitment to the national team.
“This is not just about watching a match. It is about supporting our country and giving our players the confidence that Nigerians are behind them. We want Uyo to feel the presence of Nigeria,” she added.
The move underscores FFCN’s commitment to following the Super Eagles beyond home territory and creating what Ogunfuwa described as a “travelling Nigerian family” around the national team.
