as May Agbamuche takes over in Acting Capacity
The transition of power has occurred in the Independent National Electoral Commission following the exit of its Chairman,, Professor Mahmood Yakubu.
Prof Yakubu announced one of the longest serving National Commissioners in the commission , May Agbamuche as the Acting Chairman of the Commission during a meeting with the Resident ElectoralCommissioners ( RECs) , held on Tuesday at INEC Headquarters , Abuja.
In his farewell address, Professor Yakubu urged all directors and RECs to extend their full cooperation and support to Agbamuche as she oversees the commission’s activities pending the appointment of a substantive chairman.
The leadership change comes at a crucial time for INEC, with preparations underway for several upcoming elections across Nigeria. Agbamuche is expected to ensure continuity and maintain institutional stability .
