New Minimum Wage: Labour insists on #494,000 as FG makes fresh offer of #60,000

The leadership of the organized labour in the country comprising the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) and the Trade Union Congress (TUC) have rejected # 60,000 naira new minimum wage proposed by the federal government.

This was made known by a member of the Tripartite Committee for the negotiation of a new minimum wage for Nigerian workers on Tuesday.

It was gathered that the Organized Labour insisted on ₦494,000 as new minimum wage considering the economic situation in the country.

Recall that the government had initially proposed ₦48,000 and ₦54,000 last week, which were also rejected by the Organized Labour.

It then proposed the sum of N57,000 but labour leaders also turned down the offer.

The Organized Labour had also presented ₦615,000 as the new minimum wage but saw reasons to drop their demand from ₦497,000 last week and then to ₦494,000 on Tuesday.
