NPFL: Shooting Stars Beat Kwara United, Occupies Third Position

Shooting Stars Sports Club (3SC) of Ibadan concluded the first round the Nigeria Premier Football League ( NPFL) 2024/25 season with a 1-0 victory over Kwara United of Ilorin.

It was a victory the Ibadan soccer lords bravely grabbed on Sunday in Ibadan, as they were stretched to the limit by the visitors.

Mustapha Adams Agba’a emerged the hero as he came off the bench for injured Anthony Okachi, to convert a free kick awarded the Oluyole Warriors towards the tail end of the first half.

The Stars took the slender lead into the break, but met a stubborn Kwara United on resumption for the second half.

The lively, well contested and entertaining game saw both sides battling grit for grit for most part of the encounter.

However, it was the coach Gbenga Ogunbote tutored Warriors who had the last laugh owing largely to solid defending.

The win ensured the Ibadan soccer lords end the first round of the season on high, placing third on the log with 33 points from 19 matches, three points adrift of league leader, Remo Stars.

Meanwhile, Tornadoes lost at home to Rangers international by a lone goal, while Lobi Stars and Heartland settled for a goalless draw .

El kanemi Warriors defeated Kano Pillars 1-O, while Kastina United also piped Nassarawa United 1-O.
