The Local Organizing Committee, Oba Abimbola Akeem Owoade Coronation ceremonies, headed by Dr Kunle Ogunmola, on Wednesday announced Thursday , 3rd April 2025 as the date for the final match of the Coronation Football Championship .
The championship, sponsored by Member, Federal House of Representatives, Prince Hon. Akeem Adeyemi ( SkIMEH)will host Spectrum FC of Atiba Local Government and D’ Way Up Football Club from Oyo West in the final match scheduled for 3pm at Durbar Stadium, Oyo .
In a statement released by the Coordinators of the Football Championship led by veteran sports Journalist, Mr Dayo Ojo and ex Shooting Stars player, Akeem Adebisi,Team Owoade will slug it out with Team SkIMEH in a novelty football match preceding the final match by 1pm.
The epoch making event will also feature 4 by 100 meters men’s and women’s relay race by 2:30pm same day .
The newly crowned Alaafin of Oyo, Oba Abimbola Akeem Owoade I, is expected to make his first public outing tomorrow afternoon at the event.
The finalists, Spectrum and D’ Way up football clubs secured final spots having defeated Apata FC and Alatede FC respectively in the semi finals of the prestigious championship.
Earlier yesterday, the 3rd place match was won by Alatede FC after defeating Apata FC 9-8 penalties in a high intensity game.
The football championship is part of the pre coronation activities to commemorate the coronation ceremonies of His Imperial Majesty, Oba Abimbola Akeem Owoade, 1.
