
The Oyo State Police Command has confirmed a daring armed robbery that occurred early Monday morning along Secretariat Road, Agodi, Ibadan, during which a police officer was severely injured.
According to a release by the Police Public Relations Officer, CSP Osifeso Adewale, the incident happened at about 8:00 AM when a bank depositor traveling in a metallic grey Nissan Primera (license plate EPE 901 PS) was ambushed and robbed of a yet-to-be-determined amount of money.
Police patrol teams responded swiftly to distress calls and engaged the suspects in a bid to preventing further attacks in the area.
The release said further: “Initial investigations indicate that an officer associated with the Oyo State Police Command sustained severe injuries during a confrontation that arose when his team on patrol engaged the suspects in a bid to thwart their further plans of causing chaos following the attack on the unsuspecting individual. Fortunately, there have been no reported fatalities, and the injured officer is currently receiving immediate medical attention at a secure healthcare facility”.
“In light of this incident, the Oyo State Police Command urges members of the community to come forward with any credible and timely information that may aid in the prompt apprehension of the suspects involved”.
