Tinubu Commissions Road Project In Ogbomoso,Tasks Other States To Emulate Makinde
President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has called on other states to emulate the exemplary leadership of Governor Seyi Makinde of Oyo State, particularly on infrastructure.
The president made the call on Thursday while commissioning the 76.7-kilometer expressway in Ogbomoso which was named after the former Governor of Oyo State , Late Otunba Adebayo Alao-Akala.
President Tinubu, represented at the event by Vice President, Senator Kashim Shettima , lauded Governor Makinde’s numerous projects, emphasizing the long-lasting positive impact on the state and its people.
“Governor Makinde, posterity will be kind to you. This serves as an exemplary model for every state and every Nigerian committed to the development of our great nation,”
Tinubu , who underscored the critical role of infrastructure in economic development said the new road has the potential to open up new areas of economic activities, increase agricultural production, and accelerate the urbanization process.
The President emphasized that good road networks are essential for fulfilling promises to the people and sustaining democracy.
He affirmed that the importance of connecting remote communities to the nation’s development efforts cannot be overemphasized.
In his address, Governor Seyi Makinde, said he will not shift away from interconnectivity plan made back in 2019 for development across the state to reduce infrastructure deficit and move the state from poverty to prosperity.
He called on local and foreign enterprises to see the state as an investment destination.
In his welcome address, the Commissioner for Works, Professor Daud Sangodoyin, detailed the road’s construction features, including site clearing, earthworks, reinforced concrete drainage, bridges over Rivers Ogun and Oba, and pavement works.
Also speaking, the son of late Alao-Akala and member of the House of Representatives, Olamiju Alao-Akala, said he was excited that the Governor named the road after his father.
The wife of the former Governor, Adebayo Alao-Akala, Kemi Akala, also lauded the governor for not forgetting her husband .
The event was attended by notable figures, including Royal fathers, the Chairman of the Nigerian Governors Forum, Abdulraman Abdulrazak, former First Ladies, the Speaker of the Oyo State House of Assembly, and the Chief Judge of the state, among others.
