Oladimeji FC Wins Prince Oladimeji Royal Football Tournament

as Adepoju, Bolaji Ojo – Oba commend initiative

Oladimeji Football Club of Ibadan have been crowned champions of the first edition of Prince Oladimeji Royal Football Tournament following a 1-0 victory over D’ Way Up Football Club , Oyo .

Toye Oyebamiji, who won the highest goal scorer award of the tournament with eight goals scored the goal in the first half of the highly contested game, played on Friday at Durbar Stadium, Oyo town .

The final match of the tournament organized by Hyzik Media Concept Nigeria and Team Oladimeji was graced by Oyo State Commissioner for Youth and Sports, Hon. Ms Wasilat Adegoke, Former NFF Secretary and CAF Instructor , Bolaji Ojo- Oba , Ex International, Mutiu Adepoju ( MON) , NFCA State Chairman, Coach Akinola Olatunji among other relevant stakeholders.

Others were Akiniku of Oyomesi , Chief Amusat Yusuff, Oba Onimole , Ifakayode Okediran and prominent chiefs .

In his remarks, the sponsor, Prince Daud Oladimeji Agunloye ,said part of his target in respect to the tournament had been achieved, which according to him was to identify good players .

The sponsor, who spoke through Prince Kehinde Oladimeji Agunloye, hinted that about seven outstanding cum promising players were selected by partners at the end of the tourney , with a view to developing and securing them contracts oversea .

While appreciating all the invited guests, including the Oyo State Commissioner for Youth and Sports and other dignitaries for adding colour to the event, Prince Agunloye attributed the victory of his club to team work and adequate preparation .

Speaking with newsmen, Dr.Bolaji Ojo- Oba and Mutiu Adepoju ( MON ), commended the donor for his efforts in promoting football at the grassroots.

The duo also congratulated the organizers for a job well done , affirming that the tourney remains a platform to engage the youths and also identify talents .

Dr Ojo- Oba emphasized the need for organizers of football tournaments at various levels in Nigeria to embrace standards and norms of the game as being practiced globally .

Adepoju also expressed delight in the game , saying ” It is a way of engaging the youths , identifying talents and seeing young players all the time”

” There must be tournaments, players have to continue playing . I just pray that God will continue to bless the organizers and the youths “

Champions, Oladimeji FC were rewarded with a giant trophy, medals and cash, runners up went home with cash and medals , while third place winner, Vipers FC Ilora also received cash and medals.

The event featured presentation of awards to individuals in recognition of their contributions to the development of sports in Oyo state and beyond .
